I saw him live in South Bend , Indiana in the late 1980s - awesome singer and player! He’s one of the really underrated bluesmen. His jazzy style is very unique. Great post!

Thanks so much for posting this!! He was always one of my favorites…& I regret never getting a chance to catch him live. So awesome that his grandchildren saw this…& are realizing just how much their grandfather was loved & admired!!

He had a unique guitar, a unique way of playing it, a unique way of singing, and an overall unique sound with gobs of soul. One of the all-time greats. Get his CDs!

Grandpa Fent sure has a lot of his offspring on YouTube here, that’s amazing. What’s amazing to me is how awesome this blues legend is. So pure.

I used a little bit of reverb on this video to reconstruct that “prison” feel while making a Blues Brothers mixtape. :)

It’s the opening song of Blues Brothers (when Jake’s in prison) and since I’ve heard it I’ve been looking for it. Glad I’ve found it, thanks for uploading!

A great classic Blues song by Fenton Robinson who’s a great Bluesman who’s underated,I need to get some of his CD’s,what great guitar playing!

TurnOffTard February 7th, 2010 at 5:32 pm

he’s very good, but it’s hard to beat Boz Scagg’s version because of Duane Allman’s brilliant guitar

I used to see Fenton at Wise Fools……..he let me sit in with him several times. Really a nice guy and sweet singer and guitarist. Very underrated and overlooked. He should have been given more recognition. BTW-that’s Bob Stroger on bass.
